Speaker G. Karthikeyan  inaugurates district-level meeting of Navapoojitham

Thiruvananthapuram, 12 August 2012: In a world of ever-increasing tension and violence, the efforts of Santhigiri Ashram to spread the messages of global peace and religious unity, is commendable, said Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker G. Karthikeyan. He was speaking after inaugurating a proclamation meeting at Vazhuthacaud, marking the beginning of  the district-level celebrations of Navapoojitham – the 86th Worshipful Birthday Celebrations of Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru, the founder Guru of Santhigiri Ashram.

When even faulty education systems in vogue turn humanity narrow-minded, Santhigiri has always sought to provide to the world, a barriers-free environment conducive to the unification and spiritual liberation of humanity, he added.

Prof. O.N.V. Kurup, who presided over the meeting, said that Santhigiri Ashram has been playing a major role in taking the spiritual essence of India to the countries of the world. The three-pronged philosophy followed by Santhigiri, of providing food, health and spiritual knowledge to the world, has endeared the ashram to me, he added.

Santhigiri Ashram Director Swami Navananma Jnana Thapaswi was the gracious presence at the occasion. Santhigiri Vishwa Samskarika Navothana Kendram Thiruvananthapuram Convenor  Suresh T. Thampi welcomed the gathering and Santhigiri Santhimahima Deputy Coordinator Akhileshan G.R. gave the vote of thanks.

In connection with the celebrations, Satsangs will be organized at Santhigiri Ashram at Thiruvananthapuram from August 13 to 21. On 19th August, a public meeting will be held at the Guru’s birth place in Alapuzha district of Kerala. The celebrations will go on till the Poorna Kumbha Mela to be held at the Thiruvananthapuram ashram on 20th September.
