SANTHIGIRI RESEARCH FOUNDATION, an organization of Santhigiri Ashram, proposed to conduct a three day International Conference on GLOBAL WARMING, CLIMATE CHANGE, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND SECULAR SPIRITUALITY in connection with the Dedication of the Parnasala of the Founder Guru of Santhigiri Ashram, Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru from 09-11 September 2010. An Educational Fest is also organized in connection with this ceremony.


Two students from State level will be selected for this award one each from Higher Secondary and High School level. The award carries a memento, cash prize of Rs.5001/- each and a citation.

Mode of Selection:

Preliminary Selection:

One student each shall be nominated by HM/Principal form H.S and H.S.S for district level competition. Subjects: Global Warming, Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Secular Spirituality.

District Level Meet:

An examination (objective type) on the aforesaid subjects will be conducted for the nominated students at the venue. Participation Certificates will be issued to all participants.

Results will be announced on the same day. 10 Students will be shortlisted from both levels for the State Level Meet.

Time : 09.30-11.00 am.
Venue :

State Level Meet:

A state level descriptive examination will be conducted at the same venue for the shortlisted students. Results will be declared on 15 August 2010. Top scorer (from both levels) will be presented with the Award in the Conference valedictory function. 25 students from each level will be selected (on mark basis) for the participation in the International Conference. Local hospitality and travel allowance (2nd sleeper/FP) will be reimbursed.

Young Scientist Awards, one each to School and College will be awarded based on working/still model presented in the venue. The award carries a memento, cash prize of Rs.5001/- and a citation.

Theme: Critical evaluation on Global Warming, Climate Change and associated scientific ideas.

Venue: Santhigiri Education Fest

Models have to be demonstrated at least for two subsequent days between 6-15 September 2010. The date of demonstration will be intimated to the institution before 25 August 2010. Last date of registration is on or before 15 August 2010.

Santhigiri Arts Festival will be conducted from 6 to 12 September 2010 in the Ashram Auditorium, Thiruvananthapuram.

A school shall participate in any one of the above.
The last date of the registration in the prescribed format shall be 16 August 2010.


The school which excels and scores maximum points in all the three categories of competitions together will be selected for the best school award.


A Quiz programme will be conducted in association with Doordarshan.

Terms and Conditions:

1. The competition will be conducted by Santhigiri Research Foundation.
2. All expenses except that is specifically admitted as per the brochure shall have to be borne by the competitors.
3. The decision of the Santhigiri Research Foundation will be final in all matters.
4. Award will be presented in the closing ceremony of Santhigiri Education Fest 2010 on 12 September 2010.
5. All participants will be given certificates of participation.
6. Free food and dormitory facility will be provided for all participants.
