Sneha Oil Mill

Sneha Oil Mill, producing coconut oil and cake, is located at Chandiroor, the birthplace of Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru, in Alappuzha district of Kerala. The unit, inaugurated by Guru in 1996, had its genesis in a community development initiative launched by Santhigiri Ashram in Chandiroor in the 1980s to provide sustenance to the poor villagers who could not afford to have even one meal in a day. Guru advised the local youth to organise themselves into a cooperative society based on coconut cultivation and allied products.

The Sneha Oil Mill and Koottukudumba Coir Unit are the result of this initiative which not only helped to revive the local economy but also the cultivation of coconut, a staple crop in Kerala. Even today, most of the coconuts used by the Sneha Oil Mill are sourced from the local cultivators.

Sneha Oil Mill has a production capacity of 1500 kg in a single shift. The product is available in 500 ml and 1000 ml pouches and bottles.

The machinery at the Mill includes expellers, filter press, cutter, automatic pouch packing machine and a bottling-filling machine.

In view of its purity and quality, there is good demand for Sneha Coconut Oil in the local market.
