Santhigiri 'Mathrumandalam' is a women's organization concerned with the empowerment of women. From the inception of the Ashram, Guru involved women in various activities in order to develop their spirituality and work skills.
According to Guru, the material and spiritual well being of women is the foundation for a good society and a noble world.
'Mathrumandalam' has nearly 100 units all over Kerala and in other parts of India. Several income generating ventures for women have been initiated by 'Mathrumandalam'. These include a women's savings bank scheme, handloom weaving and tailoring centres, bakeries, curry powder and herbal soap manufacturing units, crèches and working women's hostels.
'Mathrumandalam' also organises awareness programmes for women to enable them to recognize their role in family and society.
ACTIVITIES
CRECHE-KARUNA
A day care centre for babies, 'Karuna', maintained by Mathrumandalam at the Ashram premises is a blessing for parents working in different units of the Ashram and even for outside people. The creche has the approval and financial assistance from the Kerala Social Welfare Board.
SUKHAM THARUM PUDAVA
This venture started under the auspices of Mathrumandalam aims to provide opportunities for women to achieve economic self-sufficiency. There are units of Sukham Tharum Pudava in all districts of Kerala. The units manufacture readymade garments and undertake tailoring works. Training is provided for women in all units.
